Movies
If you haven’t seen Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring yet, what the hell is wrong with you? Actually, A Beautiful Mind was good too. But the unofficial Adam Wilson is waiting for The Panic Room, Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones and Spiderman. Saving money is hard when you don’t have any…

I recently re-viewed Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome and came to a startling conclusion… I have been giving that movie a bad rap for like 7 years. Forgive me makers of MMBT. I enjoy it now. Not as much as The Road Warrior, but it was still a welcome edition to the series.

And after watching Dark City for the millionth time, I came to the realization that that movie is so good, it needs to be watched by everyone. Also, in other MASSIVELY underrated films, I sat down for another wonderful viewing of The Long Kiss Goodnight. Geena Davis, Sam Jackson, the ‘ham on rye’ line. Classic.

Your homework assignment:
Watch one (if not all) of these movies some time soon:

Music
Someone burnt me a copy of Nickelback’s ‘Silver Side Up’ CD. It’s a good album. I find their lyrics sometimes contrived and (excuse me, die-hard Nickelback fans) simple sometimes, but it’s a pretty good listen. The music itself is somewhat reminiscent of old school Metallica. Not too shab of a disk though.

I recently came into possession of a Johnny Cash CD, The Columbia Years, a greatest hits kind of package. It’s a good listen too. My only complain is that in the live version of A Boy Named Sue, there is a swearword bleeped out. It wouldn’t be so bad if the bleep wasn’t annoying as hell.

I also got Dave Matthews Band’s ‘Under the Table and Dreaming’. Come on, Dave Matthews Band… you HAVE to like these guys.

And, cause I can’t plug it enough, if you haven’t yet, go out and get Matthew Good Band’s ‘Audio of Being’, which, as it turns out, is their last album, you’d better get it soon… We will shed a silent tear and wait patiently for Matt Good’s solo effort and his novel which (hopefully) will be out sometime in the near future.

What’s burning up time in my stereo right now?

Books
I’m almost finally done reading The Lord of the Rings. The next two movies should be really good. Lots of battles and interesting creatures. Gollum, anyone? I’m going be moving on to Trainspotting by Irvine Welsh after LOTR. Then some long waiting Douglas Coupland. I got Shampoo Planet a really long time ago, and it’s just waiting to be read.

Other than that, here’s some cheap plugs:
